This is The Battle Of The Boroughs presented by The Line Up Inc; the premier networking event for NYC barbers & stylists alike!

NYC forges some of the best talent the world has to offer - bolstering the highest concentration of barber shops & salons to cater to the most populated city in the United States of America. This has sparked fierce competition in business as you may have two to three shops within one city block!

What we have noticed is the uprise of severe undercutting, bad business practices & neglect for the craft in pursuit of the dollar. This has sullied the reputation of the NYC barber - which used to be a crucial aspect of the Hip/Hop culture born in NYC as we created legendary styles the world has utilized to express the art form in ways that spill into music, fashion & worldwide culture.

The Line Up came together to promote unity within the NYC barber & stylist industry. We’ve watched other regions of the country take the baton & flourish with it to a higher level & noticed we’ve lost our way as a whole. The craft has been reduced to a side hustle instead of a career path & the NYC barber industry needs to revitalize its approach to what a haircut is & what it means to the masses. Our mission is to educate, edify our own & inspire the young as well as older barbers & stylists to be more professional to grow their legacies.

Our competition is the unifying force to bring us all together to learn from one another in a constructive way instead of tearing each other’s businesses down. The competition may be between barbers on that stage but the real challenge is to become better than we were yesterday, more professional than we were yesterday, and more respected than we were yesterday.
